Limits Necessary
"Out of time; This TABOR too much, too early" (Our Views, March 5) says we should oppose State Question 726 because Oklahoma "is a much poorer state (than Colorado) that has some catching up to do in education, infrastructure, health care, corrections, social services, and other functions." State spending has increased over 10 percent per year in the last several years and we still need to "catch up"?
The reason we're behind is that our representatives believe that more money is the only solution; until that's curbed, revolutionary ideas such as better management and less cronyism and corruption won't be adopted. There may be many political reasons to oppose TABOR but there are no sound fiscal reasons. There has to be a limit to the size of government and SQ 726 would be a step in the right direction.
