Gift from God
In spite of what Shelby Lambert (Your Views, Dec. 11) said, libertarianism
is very Christian. As a Christian, I choose not to use drugs, sleep with
prostitutes or gamble. But politicians (mostly conservatives) force me to
forbid "victimless crimes" by making them illegal, so I had no say in this
matter. As a Christian, I choose to give money to the elderly, the poor and
the disabled. But politicians (mostly liberals) force me to give money to
"government welfare" by collecting taxes, so I had no say in this matter.
One of God's greatest gifts is the gift of free will. Free will is the only
way to truly know the meaning of a man's heart and soul. In the battle for
the higher power, God versus Caesar (government), the libertarian pendulum
swings the most toward God. Of all the political groups out there,
libertarianism is the most like Christ.
